Maine gas prices down another 3 cents per gallon

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- Gas prices in Maine have fallen nearly three cents per gallon in the past week, and are now down almost 12 cents in the past month.

Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average retail cost of a gallon of gas in Maine is now $3.70.

The current price is almost 20 cents per gallon lower than the in-state price last year, but still nine cents per gallon more than the national average.

The national average has decreased more than a dime per gallon during the last month and is 28 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.

A company analyst notes that it is highly unusual for gas prices to fall in the spring.
