Have you seen the New & Improved Old Cal Coffee House & Eatery? Changes are coming?but, I promise, the?changes will be?good?:-) For many long time customers, Old Cal Coffee is their place, so anytime we make changes, we must not take away the charm that makes it so great. Our customers and the history of Old Cal Coffee is the most important thing to us as owners and we aim to preserve it. I know change is always scary, but don?t worry, we are only making it better, both for you and?for us. I?ll explain in detail for you. Have you seen the new muffin case layout or the new Hot Food Menu? For many of the regulars, it took a few times walking into the coffee shop to realize that we moved the?register to the back right, instead of the front right.?Have you tried one of the Hot Food Menu Items? On Facebook, I read one comment that said? ?Yea Meat!? So, some of the changes are already receiving rave reviews. This is my menu and I am very proud of all the products we carry? I hope you like it too

The remodel was absolutely necessary in order to handle the tremendous amount of people coming to Old California Coffee House & Eatery in San Marcos Ca. If you remember, last year we won the award for the Best Coffee Shop in San Diego!?I think word got out about Old Cal Coffee being the best coffee shop in San Diego because?ever since, we?ve been getting busier and busier.?Honestly, while we love all the attention, we?re just so thankful and grateful to have the loyal Old Cal Coffee Customers who have been coming here for years. Every week, I hear a story of one of my customers bringing a friend into our place as they explain how they love us and how this is their favorite coffee shop and how they come here all the time?. Etc. Or how girls night out on Saturday is becoming?a tradition for many?at Old Cal Coffee customers as friends chit chat for hours on the couches as they catch up from their hectic week. Ok, back to the remodel?

Have you ever been here during a lunch rush or on?a Friday or Saturday night when the bands are playing??If so,?then you know how the old?layout blocked the front entrance anytime there were more than 4-5 people in line, The New layout allows many people to stand in line, even right out the door if it gets that long. The old way was cumbersome to pick up your drink, whereas the new layout allows you to easily pick up your drink and go. The old layout blocked the way to the bathroom, the new way allows you to pass right next to the line, instead of having to ask to cross the line to the register?just go to the bathroom. ?Even exiting the building is easier because the line to the register is not blocking the front entrance. Lastly,?there is a walkway that?opens up where the old pastry case was, allowing the employees to get your food and drinks out faster. If you notice in this picture below, the drink pick up station is on the right, the signs are color coded & easy to read and the register is on the left, where the old espresso machine used to be. The espresso machine is on the right, behind the drink pickup station. Now all we have to do is make your drink, turn around and set it on the counter for pickup. Simple, Fast & Effifient.

There are even more changes coming that will help us handle the rush! Read on? The New register location is equipped to handle two registers! YES, I Know?. I said TWO REGISTERS!!! How many times have you been in line and thought to yourself, geez, I just want a cup of coffee or I love this comment from Yelp, How Long does it take you order? or have you ever thought to yourself??Wouldn?t it be great to open up another register to help bust through this line???? Well soon, there?will? That?s right, we will be bringing on a second register to help you faster. The old menu was confusing and took a while to read it all. The new Menu is much easy to read and will make the ordering process much faster.?The food menu is basically the same, although added the Hot Food section. If you notice the new menu?s are color coded and easy to read. These changes will help us move faster to provide better service to you?

For our?clients who are going back to work or back to class, I know it will help you manage your time better and still have a relaxing meal. On the weekends, the second register?is a necessity. We realize that you don?t want to wait 10 minutes or longer in line and then another 10 to 15 for your food and drinks. We will try to get you through the line a just a couple of minutes and have your food out to you in 10 minutes or less.

Oh yea, I almost forgot? The Air conditioning has been on for a few weeks now and Old California Coffee House and Eatery is a great place to have a business meeting, meetup or to study. It?s cool & comfortable, with plenty of tables, couches and chairs with outlets for your laptop or ipad and we always offer free wi-fi to all our patrons. While you?re here, take a look into the dessert case, you just might find something new!
